Week 4: Colossians and 1 Timothy
This week’s reading begins with the last of Paul’s four “Prison Epistles,” so named as they were written by Paul during his first Roman imprisonment, with which the book of Acts concludes. Last week we read Ephesians, Philippians, and Philemon. This week we’ll complete these with Colossians.
The activities of Paul following the record found in Acts are difficult to trace. It must all be pieced together from evidence found in the letters of 1 & 2 Timothy and Titus. Apparently, Paul is released following the trial for which he is imprisoned and he is able to return to travels and preaching. During this time he also writes letters to the preachers Timothy and Titus. This week we’ll read the letter of 1 Timothy.
